SCEE blocking Street Fighter II HD due to "faults"

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has been receiving quite the brunt of the blame recently for the delayed release of PSN titles in the territory. This trend continues with Capcom and their highly anticipated beat ‘em up, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Apparently, the company has sent SCEE several variations of the game, none of which have been given the green light.

According to Leo Tan via thePSN.co.uk, Sony has continually denied the game release due to "faults and other problems.” Tan has stated that Capcom expects to submit yet another sample to Sony within the next three weeks in order to hopefully secure a PAL release.

This all seems rather puzzling due to the game being made available in North America late last year, yet it continues to struggle through certification in Europe. Could there really be that much difference in the game from NA to Europe? Hopefully our European readers have the chance sooner than later in being able to enjoy it.

well i have this game. for the most part the online gaming is quite solid however theres a tonne of dropouts, lost connections etc. so they might be able to peddle something half assed to NA but it seems SCEE want to make sure it works in the pal terrorities extremely well, considering there are multiple countries making up the pal area including here in aussieland so good on sony for doing this. its a big release and it has to be done right.

The question is if it's something as simple as having broken online gaming or if there's something specific that the US version doesnt have to contend with and I'd say it;s probably an issue of pal resolution output. I mean the US and Japane dont have to worry because both are pretty much NTSC but PAL dimensions could screw things up a bit if played on an SDTV and they havent adjusted art to work in PAL.

The reason it's not coming out is simple SFHD has no trophies....and we all know that as of 2009 all title's must have trophies. So they are adding trophies.

@ felixbf, SCEE has stated that since the game was first approved last year, it does NOT have to have trophies.

I'm not surprised at all by this. The game has a few major issues that should have been fixed before release. When you play online with other people, there's NO possible way to back out of the lobby when you want to quit (whether you are the host or player). The way my friends and I had to quit was to wait for a game to start, then quit game while fighting. It's stupid and SCEA should have rejected it. The menus are also kind of laggy.

yeah thats true mana knight, it completely drops you back to the menu if either ppl disconnect or theres connection failures.

This is smart and I wish SCEA would do the same thing.  If SCEA was a little more diligent, we wouldn't end up with garbage like SOCOM.  Why do you think SOCOM was delayed indefinitely in Europe?

@ IONIXX and C0SM0NECRO,  Just be glad someone cares about quality.  Like some have said, there's no way SCEA should have released SOCOM in the state it was in (not finished and glitches galore) and Street Fighter II should have been rejected until many of its problems were fixed.  But nope, they saw the games as $$ and just let them come out as is.  I guarantee if they were more strict with that, R2, etc., the games would be much smoother.  Crash Commando and other games had no issues coming to Europe and NA at the same time, meaning Capcom was doing something wrong.

wish they had done the same thing with socom. the only problem i'm having with SSFHD is the lag.

psn id: gingo... why cant capcom just give them a version that will pass the tests it makes no sense to keep submitting versions that aren't going to get passed

I just wish SCEE/SCEA would implement higher standards on shelf releases as well. How many times do we have to go through "performs better on 360" reviews until they get the message?(Blacksite being one of the worst offenders) Then again, if it wasn't for the over-exploitation of unreal, I wouldn't be b1tching.
