Sony’s PlayStation 3 console continues to enjoy increased momentum in European territories, with the platform holding today confirming that over one million PS3 units have been sold in Germany.

PlayStation 2 also turned in a solid performance, shifting 500,000 units over the course of the last year, bringing its install base to 5.8 million units in the country since its launch in 2000.

Unsurprisingly, casual gaming phenomenon SingStar and Buzz! were cited as key releases on the platform.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated with Sony’s progress in European markets as more info becomes available to us.

     It still amazes me that people are still buying the PS2 especially since the PS3 has been out a couple of years now.

    Sorry guys but M$ has America brainwashed into repurchasign new Xboxs to replace their old ones.  So their numbers will probably always look good.

    If singstar is selling so well why is it taking them so long to put some decent up-to-date songs on the singstore!

    I know theres alot of bull about rights to certain songs but you would think the success of the game would allow for more chart topping hits onto the singstore!

    Good on Sony doing so well though haha

    @Squinoa

    I'm starting to doubt the Sony releasing bad songs on SingStar thing cause i've been looking through the SingStar forums and they really do keep requesting bands i've never even heard of before.

    Even SingStar vol 4 i barely know any songs on it and people are praising it as the best one ever.

    Maybe it really is just a location thing.

    It's because H.I.M is available for download that the Germans have gone crazy and bought Singstar thus helping the Playstation 3 gain 1 million sold

    They should get Rammstein on singstar. That'll shift another million ps3s in a month.
