PS3 exclusive RPGs are few and far between, but Gust's JRPG Atelier Rorana was recently revealed exclusively for Sony's system.
Now just days later, Famitsu has acquired dozens of Atelier Rorana screenshots, from which we can ascertain the following details: the game is cel-shaded, has a classic leveling system, and appears to feature turn-based battles. Oh, and there are also gigantic cats.
If you want to check out all of the screenshots, head on over to our comprehensive Atelier Rorana image gallery. It will be well worth it, we promise.

Definitely a visually appealing game.

=( wish I could say I'm glad this is a PS3 exclusive. But hopefully they'll probe me wrong and make a great game. Here's to hoping.
@1, I don't know some snapshots look really good, but then others look very cheesy... like I said, I hope they prove me wrong as I love JRPGs

Hey, if you're a Western RPG guy, there's always Mars.

@ 2 Yea, because JRPGs are NEVER cheesy. They are always so serious and relastic in nature they could be called Talking-Animal-Great-Savior-Scantily-Clad-Female-Kitty-Demon-Slayer-Who-Learns-Life-Lessons-While-Remaining-Cute Simulators. I like JRPGs and many have good stories but don't make them out to be so far above the nature of these screen shots, please.

How is cellshading or whatever "visually appealing" ? o.O
- 6:53pm EDT - March 20th, 2009
ooo i loved atelier iris....so i hope this will be something to look forward to

When PS3 owners screamed "We need RPG!" they didn't mean this... sigh.
@Fenix - Cel shading can be just as "visually appealing" as anything that tries to be realistic.

This my kind of RPG . . . aside from it does seem pretty cheesy . . . it just looks old school though. I want some RPG that makes you work and grind a little bit to move on . . . modren RPGs to me come off as really lame these days. Oh and am I the only one bothered by voice acting in RPGs?? And every main character is so melodramtic . . . really silent protagonists is the way to go for these kind of games . . . come on who doesn't hate scenes in RPGs like when tidus and yuna did that lame-ass yelling thing early on in the game?

Despite what some other commenters are saying, I think it looks nice. I kinda doubt it'll come out in the west though. I want JRPGs, I could give a crap about WRPGs.

hey r u guys having trouble signing into the psn right now?
- 8:25pm EDT - March 20th, 2009
I'm liking the look of it :D
I'm just playing through Eternal Sonata now and I love the cell shaded environments and characters, I hope this will live up to the expectations of the other Atelier titles provided for gamers on the PS2

Lame... I want a grown up RPG... *sigh* I guess I'll be waiting for FFvXIII and FFXIII forever... @9- The silent protagonist was the worst trend in RPG history. I just recently played Chrono DS and it reminded me how awful a main character who can't speak truly is. Fable 2 was full of that garbage as well. I'll take Tidus' whiny self over DQ VIII's silent no name any day

People complain about a lack of RPGs and then ccomplain about the RPGs that we do get.
Ever heard of the expression,"Beggers can't be choosers"?
There were plenty of games like this on the PS2 and now it's not exceptable?
Also, how can anyone write off a game that they have not played?
Most people complaining are Square (who by the way hasen't made a good game since DQ8 ...oh wait! L5 actually developed that) fanboys anyway.
Maybe some of youpeople need to play other companies RPGs to realize that Square has been crap for a long time now when it comes to the genre.
Seriously, this RPG is better than no RPG.Whether you like it or not.

i really like the art style.
ps. those cats aren't that giant. more like regular sized cats...

I never try the Atelier franchise before but i must admit that since Ps3 really lack rpg games I might give it a shot. The graphic look great like Eternal Sonata , personaly i don't understand people who complain all the time about graphic this days , the real problem is that games are to short and cost to much for what they really worth. Now we pay for Graphics and nothing more ... Ok i must admit that they do make great games but i finish them all in about 6 to 10 hours what that !!!! 70$ for 10 hours this is insulting ,give me less appealing graphics and more content or even better give me both good graphic and a lots of content for at least 60 hours and than I will be happy.

- 2:44am EDT - March 21st, 2009
