According to Variety, a film based on the hit PlayStation 2 game, Shadow of the Colossus, is to be produced by Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, Case 39) at Sony Pictures.
The flick is to be written by Justin Marks, whose previous works include Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and the in-development 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Further information has yet to be revealed.
Released in 2005, Shadow of the Colossus has players traversing a mysterious land in an effort to take down 16 gigantic beasts known as colossi in order to resurrect your deceased girlfriend. The game was praised by critics and is widely regarded as one of the most emotional videogame experiences ever conceived.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. Be sure to let us know your initial thoughts in the comments section below.

This could be good... IF, and only IF, they can manage to make the Collosi sympathetic creatures. This game is very subjective. If they can make the viewer feel like the Colossi are innocent creatures then yes. But presently, I just cannot imagine how this movie would work. The more I think about what it would take, the less enjoyable the movie starts to seem.

Yeah this could look great if they did it right. keep the atmosphere, show the feelings of the Colossi. Also keep the weighty & scale feel of the Colossi too.
Example. in MGS 2 when metal gear RAY was moving around inside the tanker you really got the feeling that its one heavy mama. But at the end of MGS2 & also in MGS 4 when you control RAY your jumping about like a ballerina on speed. spoiled it for me.
Who would they get to play the characters? the actor guy that played Scarecrow in Batman begins, & Luba Schumeynko (Google image her) as the girl. :-)
I hope they make this & keep true to the vision of the game creators.

Well number 1, the thing with SotC is that the story is left to interpretation, for example, the article ubove says that Wander was on his way to revive his dead girlfriend, when in fact that information was never provided for us, there are many many threads out there that say that the god that "helps" Wander was not an evil god. Personaly, I belive this sort of "Movie based on a game" (We should make up a term up for that) should almost always be made on CG, imho. Oh and number 2, I think you mean REX.

Omg, I think they will massacre this movie. Like Keyser said, "The more i think about what it would take, the less enjoyable the movie starts to seem." They have pulled off movies from books however, the only movies i have ever enjoyed from games was the resident evil series. The movies did not even follow the storyline of the games. It worked for RE but i do not think it will suffice with this game.

As if The Legend of Chun-Li was a good movie; it totally deviated from what street fighter is. I smell epic failure.

as long as they make the colossi exactly as in the game, and not into ugly, bloodthirsty, demons. The scale of the game was awesome. No need to make the movie a trendy, pop-culture, scene kid, glam-trashy, 4 Fast 4 Furious, vampire-goth debacle. @13 yeah, Idk,maybe some renowned Japanese writer/producers should have made it.
