Electronic Arts has announced that critically acclaimed Survival Horror outing Dead Space has sold roughly 1.4 million copies worldwide since its launch in October 2008.
Speaking to Gamespot, Glen Schofield, vice president of EA and Visceral Games general manager, commented, "I'm happy with that, based on the economy," adding, Last year could've been one of the greatest launch years in the history of video games around October time, but it was a year where people bought less games than they normally would."
Schofield conceded that while he would have liked the game to sell abit more, the fact the game was met rapturous applause by the gaming press and received numerous awards more than made up for it.
"Do I wish it sold more? Absolutely," he said. "But the critical acclaim and the number of awards - we're at 75 and counting now - have made [Dead Space] bigger than just the number of sales. If you look at used sales and rentals, we're looking at probably 3 or 4 million people who have played the game."

I liked this game I thought it was well made and very fun. I played it 3 times or more till I got Platinum but it was worth it. I didn't mind playing it over again because it was fun the scare factor wasn't all to scary but it was good none-the-less. I'm anticipating the sequel of this game I hope it don't get too cheesy though. The sad thing about sequels is they can (in some cases) make a break a series so hopefully it will be just as good or better than the first.

I was one/1.4 million that did. I love the game. My only gripe, too much backtracking.

I just recently picked this game up and am LOVING IT!
The sounds on a 7.1 just envelope you in scary horrorness! This is brutality at its best.
@9 The demo kind of sucked I will give you that. Also the fact there is no multi steered me away but thats a shame because the game is so deep it really doesn't need multiplayer (although it wouldn't hurt in a sequel.
I am just pissed the little kids wii gets the prequel.

acidjoker the over all feal and story, the way everything is slowly revealed as the plot moves on and how you follow a few other crew members movments through out the infection via audio and video logs etc. it has a great atmosphere and really draws you into the game.
And the prequle will give me a reason to final dust of the Wii and use it again. try and get me moneys worth for it lol.
