Just when you thought the Guitar Hero series couldn’t possibly be milked anymore than it already has been, Activision has today confirmed yet another addition to the ubiquitous music simulation franchise, along with two fresh entries to boot – Band Hero and DJ Hero.
Due for release this autumn, Guitar Hero V will offer up a slew of modern and classic rock artists to strum along to, offering gamers “unprecedented” control over the way you play the game. This time around, you’ll be able to drop in and out of any tune and tweak band members, instruments and difficulty levels on the fly.
Elsewhere, Band Hero aims to target the ever expanding family demographic by offering up the usual Rock Band-esque set of instruments to play including guitar, drums and bass. Expect a variety of Top 40 tracks to jam along to and gameplay that will supposedly accommodate both novice and expert users alike.
Last on the cards is DJ Hero, which hopes to attract new punters by building on Guitar Hero’s social gaming sensibilities with an array of new genres such as hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance. As you might have already guessed, DJ Hero will incorporate an all-new specialised peripheral – the turntable controller.
Guitar Hero franchise boss Dan Rosensweig commented: “Guitar Hero has made music social again and has become one of the most popular ways to experience music.”
“Today’s fans enjoy a variety of music and are looking for more ways to engage with their favourite songs, artists and fellow fans. These games will let them listen, participate and socialize with music in ways they have never been able to before.”
All three titles are pencilled in for release this autumn, so expect to hear more info at E3 next month, if not before. Stay tuned.

One the the predictions of the clown, Michael Patcher, finally comes reality.
Activision will bomb us with as many Guitar Hero games as they can this year, this is only the begining.
And because of this, you may ask what will happen in the future? Well, my guess is that everyone will get bored of GH.

I just want the Metallica one but I have to buy the complete set and THEN buy the game at another 60 bucks? These guys are killing me with the stipulations. Why can't we buy the set and decide what game we want with it?
Are the Rock Band and GH peripherals interchangeable? Anybody know? I have played both but I don't own either.

So what if they milk it as long as it's good and fun.
@10, Fućktard is not even a word, makes you sound like a Fućktard yourself, and music is only social in clubs, parties, or concerts, other than that it has never really been a social thing. You would put music in the background or for dancing, but not really to interact with the music. So in a way yeah, they made it social. But then again, who cares about that and who cares if you agree or not, as long as the games are good.

Why don't they just concentrate on making one great guitar hero game? It's stupid that they milk the name "guitar hero" so much. I have guitar hero world tour. It's a great game but the DLC is far behind Rock Band's. Instead of releasing what is just new songs on a different disc, why not just release them as DLC?

@12 - oh man...emm how do i put it to you. Music IS a social thing , always has been. If that means that occassionly its just "in the background" then yeah ok but its still there and and it adds to the atmosphere. you say Music isnt social right....apart from parties, concerts, nightclubs, gigs, pubs (the list goes on btw) - which - sorry to break it to you - are social places! I mean thats as social as you get. AND - how you put dancing and not interacting with music in the same sentence is just fućking idiotic.
