Last Remnant may not arrive on PS3

Square Enix’s CEO, Yoichi Wada, recently suggested that The Last Remnant may not be coming to the PS3.

By translating an article from Japanese website Makonako, Andriasang.com found the question on Last Remnant’s status buried in a report on Square Enix’s shareholder meeting. Most questions were about earnings and not about specific games, but someone was curious enough about Last Remnant to ask a question anyway.

In summary, Wada said no company wants to make promises that it can’t keep, especially when it comes to multiplatform releases. Square Enix has to keep profitability in mind, however, and as the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game did not sell too well, it is unlikely that it would sell well on a new platform.

Wada didn’t mention The Last Remnant specifically by name, but his comments didn’t sound too promising to those hoping to see a PS3 release of the game.

not a big deal, i played it on the 360 and the reviews were being generous... there is major issues with the game chugging really bad during battle sequences and the story was weak at best. they should just cut their losses and give up on this title, if they havent already.

Come on!! i really think that PS3 can give a chance to this game!!
Most all RPG gamers are on PlayStation 3 soo its not pointless!!!

i kinda liked the game!! the xbox 360 was a failure mostly because of the LAG all around it.

Fix that on the PS3 version and i buy it.

    Simple as that.

Oh Square Enix, you're so kind to us Playstation 3 owners...

Wasn't particularly excited about this game anyway, though. They should move their resources from this game onto more important projects...like FFXIII and FFXIV.

You reap what you sow.  Instead of working on all these crappy 360 and PC proyects finish FF and start working on Kingdom Hearts!  I truly think SE is waiting for the price cut so the PS3 install base goes over 30 million or so.

I was thinking about what happened to this game.. and then I gave up lol

The game didn't do well on other platforms they said... then... shouldn't they be spending time making the last, unreleased version better to make up the losses? lol Then again I could be a crazy person :D

Ugh, this game was awful. I bought a copy brand new on my 360 last year, played it for two weeks, and promptly traded it right back in to purchase a 360 headset.

Believe me guys, you aren't missing anything worth complaining about.

After the mediocre sales and bad reviews, most potential ps3 buyers were lost. Serves them right because of selling out to MS for a time exclusive. I was one of those potential buyers now after every comment and review hehehe i am not interested for this game at all.

They keep talking all this multi-plat nonsense....but is there even ONE Square-enix game for ps3?

Seriously every since Squaresoft joined with Enix I just can't stand that company anymore...sad thing is they used to be my favorite devs.

All they have to do is fix the glitches and framrate issues from the 360/PC version, add trophies and release it worldwide for the PS3 and it will sell. $E is just too cheap and lazy for such a well established third party developer. Using a middle ware engine....nope that will not do, you are a big company..act like it. They should have a killer inhouse engine by now made from scratch....They better pray the FF series doesn't fall off, cause of now thats all they've got going for them.

But until they officially announce that the game has been cancelled...I will still be looking forward to it......so get to work $E, you low life sorry excuse for a current gen game developer rat bastards

Not a huge loss. The Xbox can keep it from what I've heard about it.

A friend of mine played it, and sent his comments on it. I think "Colorful piece of crap" were his exact words:   http://www.cheshirecatstudios.com/reviews/the-last-remnant/
