The Darkness sequel in the works

Comic publisher Top Cow Productions revealed during a panel at the San Diego Comic Con last week that a sequel to first-person horror romp The Darkness is in development.

Details on the follow up are sketchy at present, though it has been confirmed that the original game’s developer, Starbreeze Studios, is not attached to the project. Top Cow also divulged that movie adaptation is in the works, though concrete details are still underwraps.

The original game hit shops back in June 2007, with players hopping into the shoes of New York hitman Jackie Estacado, who was able to call upon the powers of ‘The Darkness’ to dispatch and dismember foes in all manner of visually satisfying manoeuvres.

PSU will have more news on the sequel as it breaks. Stay tuned.

Cool, I really liked the first game, it was so different from the other things out there. Lets hope they improve upon the flaws of the first game.

Sweet, the first one was so close to being a great game, hopefully they'll make the sequel how the original should have been.

Y'know, while the original was nothing to really get excited about, I'll admit that I had a pretty good time. Well, up until the "ending"...

I really liked teh first game, weird that starbreeze is not working on the new one.

That said... I always felt it would make more sense if the game was third person action rather than a first person game. Still it worked well and I enjoyed it very much.

I love this game. My only complaints were: touchy movement and the primary firing was relegated to R2/L2. Bring back Mike Patton. That is all...
