As if 800 songs weren’t enough, Harmonix and MTV Games say the number of songs available via the Rock Band Music Store will reach 1,000 by the start of 2010.

At GamesCom, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos revealed that new tracks from Queen, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, The Raconteurs, and Korn will help grow the Rock Band collection to 1,000 songs.

And, as you probably guessed, we can expect even more tracks announced before the holiday season.

I stopped caring after the first guitar hero I bought. But for those who do care 1000 should keep them busy for a little bit, until they get bored like everyone else.

1000 tracks to choose from but still we will all have to have the same ones to play them online.

i will never have close to 1000 doenload tracks for rockband but having the choice is what matters i suppose.

I could use some more metal now that they've included Cannibal Corpse, gimme some Sepultura, Anthrax, Megadeth, Carcass and that stuff! That really presents a challange on RB, not those "Rated PG" Blink 183 and bubblegum rock they include on the games regularly

If you like these guitar games then I guess this is good news, well not for your wallets.

    Yay?/sarcasm

If it was already at the 800 mark, then why is 1k a big deal again? That's like 1/4th the progress they already had.But the funny thing is that even with 1k songs they still don't have enough artist variety,at least it's better than Guitar Hero That's For Sure.

@14- Not enough variety? Are you serious? Do you even know what the song list is composed of?
