Capcom has confirmed that its forthcoming Resident Evil 5 downloadable content will be receiving a physical release after all, under the moniker of RE5: Gold Edition.
Due out in North America and Europe in March 2010, Gold Edition throws in the original game, all existing downloadable content, fresh costumes, plus two new playable episodes and the Mercenaries Reunion mode, which features eight additional playable characters. Gold Edition will set you back USD $49.99.
Alternatively, Capcom will be unleashing the new content in downloadable form as previously announced, with the first, Lost in Nightmares & Costume Pack 1, arriving on February 17th for Xbox 360, with PS3 owners getting it a day later.
The next batch, which features an as-of-yet-untitled playable episode and Costume Pack 2, will arrive on March 3 and March 4 for 360 and PS3, respectively. No word yet as to whether or not the content will support the PS3’s wand as showcased at TGS (known in Japan as RE5: Alternative Edition), though we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.

Well I think it's good that it's coming in both formats, it will be cheaper to get it as DLC for most people, but having a physical copy is good for those that don't already have it, though I like collecting games and trying to save some hard drive space so I might just get the disc release.

I thought this was supposed to be dlc for RE:5 NOT RE5 as a downloadable copy plus extras...
Sorry, I'm not the type of person who buys the same game twice. because of some bonus content.
Capcom is beginning to tick me off. RE:5 Gold Edition, Super Street Fighter 4? I an see it already. RE5: Platinum Edition, Super Street Fighter 4 Turbo.....
'Hey, this game sold great. Lets add a new map or 2 and resell to the peole who bought it already.'
' Lets put alternate costumes on the disk but lok them out so we can sell them as individual dlc and THEN as a bundle too after we sell them all individually. GENIOUS'
'lets put game modes on disks and lok them out so we an sell them as dlc too. were gonna be rich!!'

@7 agreed, no way I'm buying the same game twice. SoB's at Capcom can rot with this one and all their other games.
