Assassin’s Creed II has moved nearly 9 million units worldwide, according to Ubisoft financial results released today. Ubisoft also reports a 17.7 percent loss year on year with €871M ($1.1 billion USD) in sales in 2009-10.
CEO Yves Guillemot wrote, “This global economic crisis had a pronounced impact on the video game industry in 2009, which contracted by nearly 10 percent year-on-year. Ubisoft’s sales were hit particularly hard, falling 18 percent over the full year despite a stabilization in the second half of the year, when figures came in on a par with the corresponding period of 2008-09.”
The good news is that Q4 sales were up by 1.9 percent year over year to €210 million ($266.7 million USD). Much of this sales boost was from Just Dance and Assassin’s Creed 2 sales.
Of course, the company expects to be profitable in 2010-11, as do most companies. Guillemot says the upcoming technologies, like PlayStation Move and Natal, will allow Ubisoft to capitalize on the casual gaming segment.

Big deal!!!
it's not the economic crisis that is causing you to lose money it is the fact that gamers for pc have said they will not purchase any of your products untill you remove the stupid you must always be online drm for your game to function forceing gamers to pirate your software or use hacks and cracks so that they dont have to deal with your drm bull garbage protection.
and funny you also screwed your self by announcing you are going to focus more on the 360 and ps3 then the wii when just dance for the wii made you millions of dollers then you decided to ditch wii development on its butt
so who is to blame...
not the gaming community
your company is to blame.

goes to show that if a game is AWESOME,it doesn't need marketing unlike a certain modern shooter.
