ModNation Racers director William Ho has said that he’s hopeful the racer will attract fans of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo franchise who are waiting for the eagerly anticipated launch of GT5.
It turns out that the general consensus from hardcore racing fans is that United Front Games’ kart outing actually features surprisingly deep physics and handling.
“Hopefully we can attract a lot of GT fans," said Ho, during a chat with the folks at CVG. “Some of the feedback we got during focus testing from people who consider themselves hardcore racers – people who might be Gran Turismo fans – was at first they thought that the racing would be simplistic but they found with the physics and handling it’s actually surprisingly deep."
"It’s not Gran Turismo deep – you’re not adjusting spring rates and camera angles – but the fact that the physics are not canned is surprisingly satisfying for those types of players."
Regardless of whether or not ModNation Racers can attract the Gran Turismo crowd, one thing’s for sure – it’s a bloody good game.
