Guerrilla Games’ Killzone 2 has bagged itself the inaugural Ivor Novello award for a videogame soundtrack at yesterday’s ceremony in London.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive shooter found itself in the nominations list for the new Best Original Score in a Videogame category alongside Empire: Total War and Savage Moon: Waldgeist. For those unaware, Killzone 2’s soundtrack was composed by Joris de Man.
Ivors Committee director Mark Fishlock commented: "The Ivors has always sought to reflect the ever-changing world of songwriting and composing," adding, “The video games market has matured beyond recognition and big budget orchestral scores are regularly being commissioned."
Congratulations to the folks at Guerrilla Games and a well deserved pat on the back for Joris de Man. Our review of Killzone 2 can be read here.

If it wasn't for KZ2 sound track it would have ended up feeling like another generic shooter that looks very pretty. The game wasn't that bad, it was a good solid, if predictable cliched storyline. Game play was fun, though once again generic. The sound track though...That really made the impact for me. Well deserved win.

Wow finally the KZ2 Soundtrack gets some recognition. I still listen to it in my car. It is one of the best soundtracks ever in a game IMHO.
