FFVII would take 10 times as long to develop compared to FFXIII

Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that if the firm attempted to remake FFVII to the same level of quality as FFXIII, it would take the team roughly 10 times longer to create in comparison to the PS3/360 RPG.
Speaking at the launch event for FFXIII in Korea recently, Kitase commented, “We’ve gotten this question a lot from many countries,” adding:
“To make FFXIII at this level of quality, it took us 3 to 4 years. If we were to make FFVII in the same style of FFXIII, it would take 10 times as long, so it would be difficult to take it up immediately. However, we always keep in mind how often this is requested.”
The subject of a FFVII remake has popped up numerous times over the past year or so, with Square most recently commenting that it aims to “explore” the possibility of remaking the classic RPG.

Can we take those guys seriously? we full know they rushed FFXIII to get Microsoft pleased, and removed all the things interesting in a JRPG to please X360 gamers. But 10x the time? OK the game would have a good story, lots of side quests and mini games, a good character levelling system ... The rumor of having it developed is there for son long, that's it's obvious they developed a pre-project already.
Smelling a FFXIII plot where they'll announce it for X360 as exclusive.

or you could put in 10 times the developer resources and make ff7 in the same amount of time... :p
30-40 years is such an exaggeration. i mean it's ff7, not gt5 :D

erm.... what a load of rubbish, how in the heck could it take 30 - 40 years to make a game?
maybe it will be a PS9 launch game then?? i think they should just get started on it, they know its gonna sell better than anything else that year ^_^

uh huh 30 years to make? BULL!!! I do remember them saying it'll take a hole lot of work to get ff13's graphics into 7 well the graphics don't have to be top prioraty, I mean I don't care if they have to reduce the graphics a little to make cities, I can name a bunch of games with great graphics and a big world with a bunch of cities in them, but square enix put the graphics on top prioraty when makin 13, but graphics aren't everything, it would take them about 5 years to make if they had the right idea for making it

I smell bull on the part of Squenix. I am so getting sick and tired of their crap its pathetic. Trying to milk money and please one platform which clearly doesn't have the capability to handle the massive info on one disc and the game suffers from it. Squenix has dropped lower than a ameba IMO.

The main point we should be discussing here is that this type of news shows that our games are not getting better. Only prettier. This is disappointing news.

Lol man...they already have the story and the soundtrack of the game... 4 years to FFXIII...so 40 years? I think i would see FFVII remake to PS5 and XBOX1060! :P Wake up Squarenix, the fans are getting bored...its useless to keep it away much longer. If they remake the game, they will see the best selling game ever! What are you waiting for?
