Kingdom Hearts 3 still won't be out by 2012, says Nomura

Speaking during an interview with the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has indicated that Kingdom Hearts 3 won’t see the light of day any time soon.
Nomura’s comments come following a discussion on the impending 10th anniversary of the franchise in 2012, noting that while Square is keen to celebrate the milestone, it doesn’t foresee a much-anticipated third outing on store shelves within the next two years.
"2012 is the 10th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, so we'd like to do something to celebrate. However, I'll say this up front, just because it's the 10th anniversary, we still won't have KH3 out (laughs),” he said.
Square has remained decidedly tight-lipped on Kingdom Hearts 3 in recent months, and is currently focusing its efforts on the PSP prequel, Birth by Sleep, along with Kingdom Hearts: Re: Coded.

Wow Psu, way to spin this into an indirect confirmation of the game. All he was saying was for us not to expect a kingdom hearts 3 to release by then just because of the anniversary. Your title"Kingdom Hearts 3 STILL wont be out) implies that he's telling us the game is in development but it wont release by 2012. I actually do think they could be developing the game as we speak but lets not try to turn Mr. Nomura's words into something they aren't.

I think that's pretty obvious considering the KH team is working on Versus still and we don't have a release date for that (best guess end of 2011 for Japan unless they do a world wide release then it will be spring 2012 I think). So there would be no where near enough time to make KH3 for 2012

well maybe we'll at least get a PSN downloadable KH1/2. I never finished KH2, and now that my BC PS3 died I never will unless we get a PSN release!

Who knows what Square is thinking, they have huge franchises but they are not doing anything with them... or ruining them like FF. I know they want to do games that appeal the westerns, but they should have their regular teams working on franchises like KH and FF (and don't mess the formula), and they should have separate team(s) working on new things.
I'm surprised they haven't gone flop at this point.

It would just be nice to actually get some actual info. maybe new worlds or characters. Birth by Sleep was awesome, but it still didn't kill my need for a new game released to an actual game system, not portable. There is however a rumor that maybe Gargoyles may be in the next game. Some nice fool for thought. I think that Gargoyles (sp.) would be really badass.

well let's see from other sites i have read they say that kingdom hearts 3 wont be out till ffx3 sell's really good cuz they put the char from ffx3 in it so there goin to see how ffx3 sells if it go's well then kingdom hearts 3 will be out buy end of 2011 into the mid of 2012

Are you serious?......Look man nobody wants to be carrying these hand held things all day maaaan, COME ON! lets get it on my 52" 1080p flat screen TV!!!haha, Well whenever it comes out it better be worth it or, or I'll toss my PS3 right out the window!

Riku12 and Sephiroth27, you guys are spot on with your comments, because ive heard that if ffx3 does platinum or really good, i hope it does cause im getting it for christmas, and if all goes well then we have ourselves yet another life consuming game of Kingdom hearts, but if it goes to waste, then they could very well take 1 more year to think of someone else to take that characters place from ffx3, they could even put a HEARTLESS AND A TEAM MATE! but ya never know till the day rolls by eh?

patiance is a virtue. i will be willing to bet that this will be the most memorable game for the PS3. while we remeber the PS1 for final fantasy 7 and the PS2 for the original kingdom hearts. we look at the PS3 and we begin to think by time 2012-13 the games should exceed the limits of what it is capable of. KH3 will also contain the greatest array of final fantasy characters ever in a disney collaberation and i am willing to bet that the game will be the biggest of the series. so we will just have to wait and see

@mikeghtmare How the h3ll can you say that they haven't screwed up the kh formula??? chain of memores and 358/2 days are PERFECT examples =/ they should keep it at the original kh2 battle system with the exception of the command deck for abilities. I bought and played (still playing) RE: Coded and they completely f****d that up by combining the command deck with panel systems. the only way to POSSIBLY make it worse is taking FF out of the equation (which they hopefully WONT result to...) and adding the card system... Bottom line, they HAVE screwed the kh formula up

Well, I surely am speechless... I've just bought PS3 consolle for my son, and in the past two weeks I entered every gamestore of my city looking for KH3 'cause I was SURE it wuold've been released by now... Epic failure! :-) Finally, today I asked a clerk and he told me it was out of production (!) so I've decided to look for it in the web... that's why I'm here, and I'm speechless. My bad, obviously. I'm not a gamer like most of you and KH 1&2 are the only two games I've ever played on ps2, seeing the preview in KH2 I assumed that by now the 3rd wuold be available... now I know better! I'm waiting for the only game I'll ever play on PS3, please, be fast! TBB

Man, if i really decide to buy play station 3 just because KH3 and in the end it becomes non-good in any possible way, i\\\'ll just have to follow the game creators, around the world if i have to, and torture them. I hope it becomes pretty good, or else...

has anyone considered any marvel characters being in the next one? i mean disney has purchased marvel. im not saying it would be a great thing.but i cud see it being a huge change if they do decide to add marvel elements in

my thoughts are screw the portable systems and just work on kh3 no one wants random portable games there too expensive and too short seriously just finish it already
