Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 reveal due next month?

UK publication PSM3 has lobbed more coal into the Modern Warfare 3 hype train this week, with the mag’s latest issue claiming official confirmation of the much-anticipated military shooter will drop next month.

Specifically, the magazine (via CVG) states that “the next in Activision’s megaton FPS series will be announced in mid-April.”

Previous reports on Modern Warfare 3 have pointed to a prequel, with OPM UK rumouring the shooter will centre on fan-favourite cockney grunt, Ghost.

However, PSM3 speculates that MW3 will be a full-fledged sequel, writing, "Based on the ending of MW2, we'd be surprised if the story doesn't pick up with Soap and Price on the run, after they were set up by General Shepard."

Whatever it turns out to be, it’ll be sure in for a bumpy ride with heavy competition from the likes of EA’s Battlefield 3 gunning for the 2011 FPS crown.

Stay tuned for more developments here at PSU in the coming weeks.

I REALLY don't care. I didn't have that high hopes for Black Ops and I haven't played it much and I probably won't get MW3 since Infinity Ward will probably only do the single player and Sledgehammer and Raven Games will be working on the multi-player. I'll only get this if I get to try it out extensively (not just for an hour but for several hours) and still love it before I will get this. Otherwise I can just borrow it from someone as a lot of people will still end up getting this.

Excited and scared all at the same time - love Call of Duty but the way Black Ops ran on the PS3 was a major disappointment.  So the thought of what three different publishers end up producing worries me.  I've heard Raven is responsible for the crappy port of Black Ops that we ended up with - so to hear they are doing the multiplayer is not good.

I think they need to hurry up and release details on Modern Warfare 3. Hopefully we get a trailer and this game is TONS better than the crap they put out called Black Ops. I read this interesting article on a Modern Warfare 3 fan site http://mwarfare3.com/ and they were talking about if MW3 can remain the top FPS. I think it's possible, I always enjoyed the Modern Warfare 3 titles as they seem to have better gameplay as compared to the "Call of Duty" titles. The franchise has taken a huge step back with the previous two games released, and I think with the competition stepping up that Activision will make sure this is a great game. They also said the game will be out on November 11, which is interesting. Are there any other MW3 sites out there with new information on the game? That was the only one I can find that has news on modern warfare 3 consistently and provides new info.

I loved the campaigns for COD4 and MW2. I want a continuation of that, not a prequel. The online doesnt appeal to me anymore. CoD games online are broken. Thats that. Please, one more good campaign in the Modern Warfare franchise! The Black Ops campaign sucked then ended so chessily.
