Assassin's Creed: Revelations info landslide

The first concrete info on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations plucked from U.S. mag Game Informer has crept online via NeoGAF.

According to a summary of the article, Ezio’s swansong looks set to take place predominantly in Constantinople, and will be split between four districts: Constantine, Beyazis, Imperial and Galata. Cappadocia also makes an appearance.

Ezio’s getting on a bit this time around, though, with our slippery hero being over 50 years-old during the events of Revelations. He’ll have access to a new gadget this time around known as the hookblade, which can be used to facilitate his travels across the city by riding ziplines.

In addition, the device can also grab hold of enemies and pull them to Ezio allowing him to duff them up with a swift combo attack. Controls have been tweaked accordingly, so hitting circle/B will manipulate the hookblade while tapping triangle/Y will control projectile weapons and bombs.

And there’s plenty of bombs to be found, too; Ezio will have access to over 300 types during Revelations that he is able to craft himself.

Elsewhere, Eagle vision has been renamed to Eagle Sense. According to Ubisoft’s Alex Amancio, “Eagle sense let’s you focus on a character and see where he’s been.”

“You’ll get an approximation of where he will go. If you’re able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush.”

GI also confirmed that the Borgia Towers aspect has been ramped up in order to accommodate the all-new Assassin’s Dens system. Revelations allows you to take part in various assault missions to neutralize the Templars. After setting up an Assassin’s Den, players can upgrade buildings in the area, implement ziplines on rooftops, as well as persuade guards to sit on the fence instead of remaining hostile.  You risk losing your dens if you achieve high notoriety, however.

If one of your pads gets attacked, you’ll be able to dispatch troops to quell the threat if you happen to be too far away to deal with it yourself. To do this, pay a visit to the nearest den under your control and assign a master assassin as the den overlord, ensuring its protection.

Meanwhile, Revelations has kicked the levelling mechanic up from 10 to 15, while side quests have been removed entirely and replaced with random events. For example, Ezio may be travelling through the city and spots a shop owner being set upon by a group of burglars; you can help him out if you wish. Other examples include a small girl approaching you and asking you for assistance.

As for Desmond, Revelations sees him back inside the Animus where he discovers a safe mode called the ‘Black Room.’ Here, players can access Desmond’s lost memories, with the gameplay taking on a more narrative-heavy puzzle template.

Said Amancio: “Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious.”

Ubisoft also confirmed that it has utilized a fresh motion capture facial tech for the game, known as Mocam. According to GI, the tech is very much an “intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like L.A. Noire.”

Lastly, multiplayer will return as previously confirmed, though will have more of a narrative focus than Brotherhood. Players will be able to kit out their character’s appearance and weapons, in addition to the ability to create guilds.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations hits PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in November 2011. Stay tuned for more info as it breaks.

Lots of reveals. Maybe it's deeper in development than I thought? I just hope they don't completely copy stuff. The hookline sounds like something from Link and the random events sounds like Red Dead Redemption. But maybe that's good.

Keep on churning out the same game with a couple of changes. This game is now just another COD cash cow.

Hey, i know they are milking it, but if the milk still tastes good, I\'ll buy it.

Great sounding. Unlike most games in series, Assassin\'s Creed has only been getting better since the first one. Hope they keep it coming and stop at the 5th game. Clearly the series will not be finished with the installment of Revelations.

@2 Sure, it looks like eventually this series will tire if they keep on with the yearly releases, but how this differs from CoD is they are actually doing new things from game to game, wheras each CoD game is just the same old: a short campaign and a multiplayer mode with killstreaks and unlocks.

At least AC is seeing some decent innovations from title to title. AC2 had tons of features the first game didn't have (different armor, weapons, the ability to upgrade buildings, The Truth puzzles, etc), and Brotherhood expanded upon AC2 by adding the thieves guild and thief management, the borgia towers, and leonardos flying machines, etc.

Sounds like revelations is poised to add even more features and at least they are building a whole new massive city to play around in. They could've gone the easy way out and just made another game that took place in Rome, Venice, etc all over again.

You\'re all being dumb. I\'ve loved every AC game. The second one was brilliant. Brotherhood was immense, if a little short. I have no problem seeing a new game every year, especially when the company comes up with new ways to better each prequel. I don\'t get this crap about milking it. Authors bring out sequels every year. Film companies bring out sequels every year. Why can\'t games do it? Quit whining and enjoy what is a brilliant games series.

I agree with Danmack. AC2 and Brotherhood have been beautifully crafted games and I just feel sorry for the people who don\'t want to see closure in Ezio\'s and Altair\'s story.

MW2-LgND, Ubisoft is clearly smarter than you. It stopped being Instabul in 1453 -- the game is set in 1511.

So Leonardo also can be in this game, after all he died in 1519, so he might also make an appearance. Propbably helping Ezio with bomb designs, and the hook blade? That might be cool. Also, I thought that Desmond was in a coma.

Needs to be middle ground between 2 and brotherhood. About 3/4 of the way through brotherhood i was so powerful even without the assassin signals that none of the enemies were even doing any real damage cuz i had too much health to care. I think any new gadgets are good and would hope for a more interactive dodging/reversal/movement/grabbing system where Ezio can do things dependent on the environment around him like catch a spear thrust, pull them in closer so the spear impales someone behind and stab the spear weilder in the stomach or preferably do something like in the trailer where he uses caught weapons to block attacks and opponents stances against them!
