Grand Theft Auto V is apparently well into development and will likely hit stores next year, according to a report on GameSpot.

The site has heard whispers from sources close to Rockstar claiming that the crime sequel is “well under way,” and that a 2012 launch is “pretty likely.”

Further info is being kept under wraps, though the source teased that “it’s the big one.”

GTA V has been rumored for quite some time now, with a number of casting calls surfacing back in March indicating that a follow-up is on the horizon. Internet rumblings pointed to an E3 reveal, though that obviously failed to materialise.

Stay tuned for more developments as they break.

It's Rcokstar.  They won't reveal stuff like that.  And I'm sure the game is well into development.  I just hope it's more like GTA SA than 4.  Not that 4 was bad.

It's R*'s cash cow, of course they're working on a 5th game, they probably started working on it right after they finished the 4th game. It's not in any way shape or form a surprise, it just doesnt matter until we actually SEE it.

If GTA V is ANYTHING like GTA 4 (I mean the super-realistic stuff) Then R* isn't going to get my money. I'm getting tired of these realistic games. I like a balance of realism and non-realism, but not totally realistic games.
