Far Cry 3's scale to be 'ten times' as big as previous games

Far Cry 3’s narrative director Jason Vandenberghe has said that the sandbox sequel’s scale will be considerably larger than that of its predecessors – around ten times larger, to be precise.

Speaking to EDGE, he commented, “If you look at the vistas and the scale of Far Cry 1 and 2, take that and multiply it by ten.”

“We want to take that even further. We’re focusing on taking that scale and making it dense, so that around every corner there’s something to find or see.”

“That’s a key in open-world experiences. We ask ourselves: if there wasn’t anyone to shoot in the game, could it still be fun?”

Vandenberghe further added that the development team is looking to make moral choices “interesting,” insisting they wouldn’t be a black and white, good vs. evil-style affair.

“I want to present the player with intense situations, and then I don’t even want to watch what you do. That’s not the designer’s business," he explained.

Far Cry 3 is currently in the works for PlayStation, PC and Xbox 360 platforms and will hit stores in 2012.

I really hope that they don't make it like the second Far Cry and make the map to big and making the player journey from one side of the map to the other side what took ages and would cause me to loose intrest very quickly. Another thing I would like them to change is the health system, just make it like a normal health system and not one you have to cure yourself with medical kits. That's not it there was alot wrong with the second one what they have to change to make the game enjoyable. Well from the gameplay what we've seen already it looks good and hopefully builds up to the hype.

i dont mind a larger map, would be nice if they included a lock walk/run function for us adventurers... like cruise control... use select button menu to activate with a simple kill swicth button on controller, incorporate variable walk/run speed and it gun strafing heaven... far cry engine is incredible, they take pride in the whole experience.... fire was next gen in FC 2... will be great seing what's next... i wouldn't be sur[rised if they are working on making the mutiplayer better. thats what most are focosing on know...
