Variety reports that Neil Burger of Limitless and The Illusionist fame has been snapped up to write and direct the planned movie adaptation of Uncharted.
The project had previously been put on ice following David O. Russell’s exit earlier this year, though according to the article, Burger was chosen as his vision for the flick shared more similarities with the original game.
Burger is apparently in the process of reworking the movie following Russell’s departure due to ‘creative differences’ back in May.
Russell’s flick would have seen hero Nathan Drake form part of soprano-style antiques family, with Mark Wahlberg hotly tipped to step into the adventurer’s shoes. Unsurprisingly, this didn't exactly go down very well with fans.
We’ll have more on the Uncharted film as it breaks.

Always heard good things about The Illusionist, but i never saw it, nor have i seen the other movie. I guess well have to see how it goes but if his vision is much closer to the original game like they said, thats a HUGE plus. soprano-style antique family....hah. what a joke.

What's up with all of the spam?
Anyway, "The Illusionist" was a fantastic movie. I really hope that this guy can come up with a good movie that is similar to the games. I just want to see a solid treasure hunting story that is better than the Lara Croft films and the last Indiana Jones film.
