Famitsu reveals fresh Final Fantasy Versus XIII info

Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura has divulged a few juicy tidbits on the hotly-anticipated RPG in a recent interview with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu.
According to the publication (translated by Final Fantasy Union), Nomura offered his apologies for the game’s lengthy development cycle and said substantial details were be revealed soon. In the mean time however, he did offer a few updates on the project.
First up, Nomura revealed that FF Versus XIII will feature cut-scenes inspired by various shooters – by that, he means they won’t break up gameplay. Furthermore, they’ll be played-controlled to some extent, and predominantly make use of the same assets as real-time events.
Veteran Final Fantasy developer Takeshi Nozue has also jumped on board the project to help out with the game’s graphics. In particular, Famitsu notes that they had a gander at three screenshots of the game in action, and were so impressed by them that they doubted they were actually real-time images.
Elsewhere, Nomura-san confirmed that gamers will be able to take snapshots whenever they wish during gameplay via Noctis' mobile phone. He also touched on combat, describing the game's battle system as dynamic and mentioned that it will 'change things up' to ensure the gameplay remains fresh.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is due out exclusively on PlayStation 3, though has yet to attract a release date.

I will not get excited about this game until I see some real gameplay. It still sounds a ways off.

they have showed gameplay, to put the whole thing simply its like kingdom hearts its amazing like think "WTF why cant i do that" or the classic "i dont get it isnt it smarter to..." you can use enemys equipment the worl is like by the looks of it WOW the monsters well some look like the myverns from KH1 so yeah you should really google it i mean the gameplay video been out for a while

@1 A little behind are we? Gameplay has been out for this game for quite some time, buddy. Do some research.
@2 What on earth are you babbling about. The only thing I understood was that they showed real gameplay. Everything else was nonsense.
@3 You thought Versus 13 was a launch title? For your sake I hope that was a joke...
I still haven't seen enough to convince me to get hyped for this. Yeah it looks nice, but there's no real indicator that the whole thing will be worth it. I'm liking what I see and hear so far though, even though story wise it probably won't come close to KH.

..I hope this game is worth the wait because the Final Fantasy series haven't been good since the ps1 era. Final Fanasty needs to get back to their "Fantasy" roots rather than using their J-POP Sci-Fi approach.

Ok, I haven't been keeping up with the tidbits of info trickling in. I would hope that Square can start releasing more trailers soon though.

@honomaru - I guess everyone is expected to keep a portfolio full of screenshots, video and information on every s*itty game that takes 10 years to make, and is worth only about 2 years of wait.
Hey Tetsuya, how about you actually show something more than wack clips. How about you actually let some people try it out so we can get some actual feedback on how it plays. Only FF fanboys are excited about this c-r-a-p, or should be.
