Gamescom 2011: Battlefield 3 won't have split-screen co-op

DICE has revealed that Battlefield 3 won’t support split-screen co-op.

The much-anticipated military shooter received its first console co-op demo during Electronic Arts’ Gamescoms presser earlier this week. However, the feature will remain an online-only affair.

"No, you have to be online to do it [co-op]," said DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson, during an interview with Gaming Lives.

Battlefield 3’s co-op offering will be a separate entity from the game’s main campaign, with six levels available at launch. Each one should take about 20-45 minutes to beat, depending on how good you are and what difficult you plump for.

Furthermore, once you’ve completed a level, you can compare times and scores with your mates, with points awarded for teamwork.

Battlefield 3 will be released on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in October 2011.
