Will you buy the new Xbox 360-styled controller for your PS3?

We’re very happy with our DualShock 3 controller for PlayStation 3, but it seems that others maybe aren’t so keen. Talking with Speedlink at GamesCom 2011, we discovered that the peripheral manufacturer is on the verge of releasing a curious new product, the XEOX Wireless gamepad for PS3.
What makes this controller so unique is that it’s the first pad that mimics the style of the Xbox 360 controller, but it's designed specifically for PS3 gamers. In terms of form factor, it does feel identical to the black wireless Xbox 360 controller that comes bundled with the Xbox 360 Elite, but it has a few minor changes.

A turbo button sits just to the right of the d-pad for rapid-firing, while the traditional PlayStation symbols on each of the buttons differ slightly from Sony's official pads. Instead of coloured symbols, Speedlink has opted for a simple black and grey design.
You’ll also notice that the central, circular button, which opens up the XMB, is illuminated in Xbox-green when the controller is turned on and if you look at the control from arms length the 'XEOX' branding actually looks like it says Xbox. Having had our hands on the XEOX prototype at GamesCom, it does feel a little weird handling a controller that is so similar to Microsoft’s official pad, yet using it to play games on the PS3. But, Speedlink really does believe there's a market out there for this kind of product.
Is DualShock 3 that bad that you’d consider buying an Xbox 360 controller, or do you think the Xbox 360 controller feels more comfortable than the DualShock3? Let us know your thoughts.
The XEOX Wireless Gamepad goes on general sale in October 2011.

Who'd wanna play with that nasty controler, not even back in the dreamcast era did I like it, and I'm a diehard dreamcast fan.

Never. Ever. The DualShock3 isn't perfect, but it's as close to is as any game controller so far. I've added some concave silicone stick caps and RealTriggers to mine, and it's practically perfect.
I don't dislike the 360 pad, but I find the LB and RB buttons to be far too small, and I have never been able to get on with the lopsided sticks. It's not even a question of 'what you get used to' - I used to have an original Xbox and a Gamecube, and I never could get used to the bizarre positioning of the sticks.

@3 They aren't marketing it for everyone. You look like a moron asking questions like that. I'm fine with my DS3, but since they added the analog sticks, it doesn't feel as snug as it did before - they need to make those handles a bit longer to compensate.

Hell no!!!! the Playstation controller has the best design ever, having this fat monster 360 style controller is a huge step back… you might as well glue 16 Atari controllers all together...

If I wanted an xbox controller I'd have bought an xbox, and besides there are already a few of these horribly bastardized controllers on the market with the analog and dpad switched that I wouldnt touch either. The xbox controller difference wasnt even meant to make things more comfortable, they only did it to make their controller look different from Sony's, it doesnt improve gameplay one bit.

finally, this is what I have been hoping for. Personally I find the DS3 uncomfortible and I never liked the layout for fps games which is what I play most. I know it's not for everyone, but personally i would pay good money for that. The one thing I liked about the xbox from day one was the controller.

I have a friend who has quite large hands, so the DS is a little awkwrd for him. He was an old Sega die-hard and moved to XboX later. So the controller is pretty much a big issue for him, just as the DS is a big issue for us.
SO yeah....this makes the PS3 more accessible for people like him. Just as a DS styte controller for the XboX would make the console more accessible for us.

YES, i love the xbox controller and always buy games that are on both consoles on the xbox for that reason. The playstation controller could have done with some upgrades over the years in my opinion. Such as the triggers and the Analog sticks.
Now this has been released i can honestly say my playstation will be getting alot more play time.
p.s. To anyone saying this has been done before look up the reviews on those ones and your notice they all suck. This one at least looks good quality, i just hope it has no deadzone on aiming.

Had an Xbox 360 for years before trading everything in for a PS3. I love everything about the PS3 - except for the controller. It hasn\'t been updated in years and feels that way, it\'s just no way near as comfortable in your hands as the 360 controller. I imagine most the die hard Sony fans in here have never held one or compared them side by side, but there\'s just no arguing that one is comfier than the other.

The first secondary PS3 controller I picked up was a wireless one by Logitech at launch, which mocked the 360 controller\'s dpad joystick position and shape. They came bundled together for $50, which was a steal since 1 PS3 controller was $60. It\'s not all that different if you know how to game. It was handy when we had 3 people over who wanted to play RFOM in the early days.

I will. Indented thumbsticks are superior for first-person gaming. If Sony was gonna copy anything, it shouldn\'t have been motion controls, which cost them thousands of dollars from the Wii... It should have been $3.00 thumbsticks from Microsux that cost NOTHING to research or to R&D.

If I wanted a controller with a shi** D pad and a cord I would just get a old Xbotch 360 core! LOL M$ still uses that super high tech 2.4GHz connection for its wireless controllers with a big set of AA batteries to get in your way at the bottom of the controller to boot. Garbage! Complete junk LOL!

I only prefer the 360 controller for FPS games because with the dual shock i tend to hit start, select, and the dpad a lot because my hands are huge.

LOLZ remember back when XBOX used the anchor? Then they copied Dualshock 2, and now I guess they somehow are the original :P I\'d like to see anyone prefer a real XBOX Anchor over a Dualshock

The PS3 controller is fine. You just need to buy some plastic R2 and L2 triggers to put on and a comfort skin and you are fine. Those are the only issues I\'ve had with my PS3 controller so far. I hate the lopsided analog sticks on the 360 controller. The thick controller does feel more natural in your hands, but I just prefer the button layout of the PS3 controller. If they made a thicker PS3 controller along with my 2 suggestions then I\'d buy it.

Yeah right! No way in the world, will I go to a crap box controller. Sony's is way better, fits perfectly in my hands, and it's light too.

I had an Xbox 360 and loved the controller. Very ergonomic and sticks and triggers responsive. Xbox red rin sticks ged so I chose to replace it with a PS3, mostly because I just got online and I knew some friends who I could game with. Couldn't get on with the PS3 controller on racing games. Bought a wheel in the end out of sheer frustration of those stupid so say triggers which are curved so your fingers slip off them too easily. People who say the PS3 controller is perfect and then add I bought some stick on triggers and a gel pack and it's perfect now. Well if it's perfect then you wouldn't need to buy all that extra tat would you? Also when playing a FPS and you look full left and are moving full right you end up with your two thumbs colliding together because theare placed too close, it's crap. So I'm very interested.

The DS3 is an extremely nice controller; however, it does have it\'s drawbacks. After long-term use, I notice that my hands hurt from being in such an unnatural position. The 360 controller, on the other hand, really fits my hand extremely well. In the end though, I\'d probably use the controller specifically for FPS games and rely on the PS3 controller for the RPG/fighting games. With all that said, I would go out and buy it today if it works as well as the 360 controller.
