U.S. PS Vita memory card pricing revealed

GameStop has revealed it's pricing for the PlayStation Vita specific memory cards, due out when the console launches on February 22, 2011.

The prices start at $29.99 USD for a mere 4GB card, which is quite expensive as you can purchase a standard MicroSD card for around $31 USD depending on where you shop.

The price only increases from thereon, with the 8GB, 16GB and 32GB PS Vita specific card going for $44.99, $69.99 and $119.99 USD respectively.

The sad part about this is that the PS Vita memory cards are proprietary to the console, and there has not yet been any "off-brand" alternatives announced.

So it would seem that gamers expecting to upgrade their storage space are in for some hefty expenses after the initial console purchase.

Wow, too expensive for my blood.  I know how fast memory gets used up and 32GB is not even enough for a hard core gamer like myself.  I got a 250GB PS3 and have still ran out of memory.

??? MicroSD memory cards are MicroSD memory cards, don't see why any brand wouldn't work ...

    $200 for a 32GB card, F__K THAT, for $200 I should get at least 100GB.

So... a decent memory card for your PS Vita alone costs more than a Wii.

I think they meant to say a standard 4GB microSD card could be purchased for around $9USD.While a 32GB might run closer to $31USD

The reason why these cards are so expensive is because there are no "off brand" variations or generic versions to drive lower prices. Eventually someone will come up with a generic or a card adaptor that will let you put a MicroSD in a vita and all will be right... as for 32 gb being a problem I have had a 32gb card in my PSP for 4 years and it's been fine with space... even with 8gb of mp3s on it.

@ 1 Sound to like your more of a hardcore porn collector, 250gb of space is a lot to fill with Save files.

Dear PSU, I don't know why you put 199.99 USD for the 32gb since your source says it's 119.99 USD...
