Insomniac Games has said it’s putting the Resistance franchise to bed, confirming it won’t be making any more games in the Chimera-slaying series.

Chatting with VG247 at Southern Methodist University’s Game:: Business:: Law Summit this week, Insomniac overlord Ted Price didn’t mince his words, stating: “We won’t be making any more Resistances.”

Resistance: Fall of Man was among the first games available on PlayStation 3 back in 2006, and was followed by 2008’s Resistance 2, with the trilogy rounded off last year with Resistance 3.

The franchise also made the transition to handheld consoles, with Sony Bend's Resistance: Retribution arriving on PlayStation Portable in 2009, and Resistance: Burning Skies due on PlayStation Vita later this year.

These days, however, Insomniac is branching into multiplatform territory, and is currently working on shoot-‘em-up Overstrike. In addition, it’s also embracing the social gaming space with Insomniac Click, though little is known on this particular business avenue at present.

“Certainly over the next couple years, we’re going to see a huge evolution in visuals in social games,” explained Price. “It’s thanks to improving technologies. It’s thanks to browsers that are getting better and more powerful. It’s thanks to development teams – core traditional game teams who are moving into the space.”

While I didn't think the 3rd game was great, I will always remember the resistance franchise for fall of man. When I bought my PS3 that was one of the only good games out there. Its fun, addictive 40 player multiplayer made the wait for the other games much more bearable.
    You will be missed resistance!

Idk, my cousin always loved the series but in my honest opinion i never found anything out the ordinary with them! To me it felt like a been there, done that kinda thing! Same with killzone! But that's just me!

A shame to see the Resistance series go.

Should've mentioned that the reason for this is probably due to the decreasing sales with every new iteration, especially the third game.

Let GG have a go at it,insomniac are best at making kids games.I think GG could really make a good game out of it and its even better than the killzone story.

Insomiac did say that this was going to be the last of the series. I will miss Resistance, since it has been around since day one of the PS3, lots of hours spent on it. =)

sad to see it go, away from insomniacs hands anyway, but at least the story went out o a high note. i just wish we went back to europe or learned/saw more of the pure chimera and whatnot.
