THQ: There will be no difference between the PS3, 360 versions of Darksiders II
Now if my memory serves me well, there were once reports that the Xbox 360 version of the first Darksiders suffered from screen-tearing, and framerate issues. Yet when we saw the game at a recent Darksiders II preview event in San Francisco, we couldn’t help but notice button callouts on-screen that would suggest that the game was running on an Xbox 360.
Seeing as publishers usually want to show the most optimized, polished, and ready version of their game to the press at these preview events, we wondered if the PlayStation version of Darksiders II was no longer lead platform at Vigil Games.
Luckily, at that same preview event we were just talking about, PSU had the opportunity to interview Ryan Stefanelli, producer on Darksiders II over at Vigil. When asked about the possibility of graphical disparities between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, Stefanelli had the following to say:
“There will be very little difference…and by very little, I mean no difference.”
Comforting to hear, because if you’ve read my preview of Darksiders II, you’d know that we’re pretty darn excited to dive into the game this June; a firm release date has yet to be announced.
We even went out on a limb and asked about the possibility of PS3-exclusive content in Darksiders II, to which THQ responded a simple “no.”
Oh well, was worth a shot, right?
