Radical Entertainment has said it’s hoping Prototype 2 will shift in the region of 1.5 – 2 times as many copies as its predecessor.
Speaking with MCV, Radical VP Dave Fracchia observed that the shape-shifting sequel stands a good chance of meeting expectations as April doesn't offer much competition.
"We sold 2.1 million copies of the first game and our expectations are much higher for this one," Fracchia said.
"I would roughly say we're looking at between 1.5 to two times [the sales of prototype]. I would obviously like to see it higher than that."
"There were a few games that were getting hints about potentially being released during April, but they've all kind of moved, so we literally own April," he explained.
Prototype 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the U.S. on April 24, and arrives in Europe on April 27. The PC version will launch in July.
