SEGA’s lifted the wraps off Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, due out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PC, Xbox 360 and 3DS later this year.

Developed by Sumo Digital, the game is a follow-up to the 2010 racer Sonic & All-Stars Racing, and features several new gameplay enhancements, including the ability to pilot boats and planes in addition to regular cars.

Players can expect a plethora of characters up for grabs including the Blue Blur himself alongside Dr Eggman, Vyse from Skies of Arcadia and Gilius Thunderhead of Golden Axe fame.

Gamers will be able to barrel-roll in mid-air, while Transformed also sees the return of the Powerful All-Star, which accumulates through “daring and stylish” play. Among the tracks on offer include those inspired by the likes of Panzer Dragoon and Super Monkey Ball.

Stay tuned for more details as we get them.
