Rumor: Dead Space 3 has drop in/drop out co-op

Industry sources have been whispering in IGN’s ears this week, claiming the upcoming Dead Space 3 is to feature drop in/drop out cooperative play.

According to the site, Isaac Clarke, the world’s unluckiest space engineer, finds himself working with a chap with glowing red eyes, a scar on his face and wearing a suit similar to our hero.

Apparently, the mystery character will serve as Clarke’s guide during the single-player mode, and won’t show up in certain cut-scenes. This will change in co-op however, with the story being tweaked accordingly.

In co-op, gamers will work together to solve various puzzles using Dead Space 3’s new range of telekinesis powers. You’ll also be able to share ammunition and heal each other; however, if one player snuffs it, then you’ll have to reload from a checkpoint.

Dead Space 3 was officially confirmed by publisher Electronic Arts earlier this week during an earnings call. The game will be released no later than March 2013, and is rumored to take place on a frozen planet known as Tau Volantis.

Expect more details at E3 for sure, if not before. Stay tuned.

They are going to ruin Dead Space..."chap with glowing red eyes"? To "guide" Isaac? Ugg! what's next, a Pipboy? When creativity fails, add and makeup dumb stuff... The fun and scariness of DS was having to deal with the Necro's on you own... alone... in the dead of space... and not a s a FPS... much was to be said seeing Necro's attack and attempt to ravage Isaac... just gotta wonder if ES ever does any user surveys about what makes DS so important to the fans...

ead Space is in my top 3 games of this gen. Then they took the sequel and made it into a corridor shooter with no story. Just point A to point B to point C. And now this thing...co-op and Isaac's insane alter ego accompanying him...good grief. I'm sure all the 14 year old Call of Duty fanboys who buy this used at Gamestop for $55 and sell it back to them a few days later for $15 will say they "Improved it in every way".

Personally I think I'll just skip it.

This does not sit well with me at all it's like RE5 all over again they are going to ruin any kind of survival horror game that comes out now aren't they!?!?!?! sooo sad I really liked the first two (first one more because it was more scary) I hope they change their minds and take the co-op stuff out or this is going to be as unbearable for me as it was to see RE DIE!!!!! ;-( EA you just made my sh**-list along with CAPCOM (I don't actually keep a list but you know what I mean)

JackC - that is so true and very likely to happen too!
