Make your own levels with PS Vita’s camera in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz

The manic gameplay of Super Monkey Ball should be a perfect fit for the PlayStation Vita’s tilt functionality, but that’s not the only feature Sega is leveraging in the latest installment.

By analyzing photos you take with the PS Vita’s camera, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz will automatically generate a level based on the objects you capture. The trailer below briefly shows how this might work. The player is shown having snapped a photo of a stereo headset, and a few moments later, a flat level is created in the shape of the headset.

Our glimpse at the feature might be limited, but I’m excited to toy around with the level generator and find interesting combinations of real-world objects. All told, eight game modes and plenty of cool uses for PS Vita tech will be waiting when Banana Splitz launches on October 23.
