Rocksteady’s new Batman game will take the form of a prequel set in the 1950s, aka the ‘Silver Age of DC Comics,’ according to a report on Variety.
The site claims that the superhero title will depict the first meeting between the Caped Crusader and his arch nemesis Joker. This puts it around the same time that Batman and Superman teamed up to create the Justice League of America.
Variety adds that the game will “bow in 2014 at the earliest,” so don’t expect any more info for a while yet – that is, providing the info is in fact the real deal.
Rocksteady previously enjoyed critical and commercial success with Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, which launched in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
As far as we’re aware the studio isn’t done with the Batman/superhero universe, though nothing concrete on the company’s future plans has been revealed at present. As such, take this info with a pinch of salt just in case.
