Kojima Productions’ Sean Eyestone has shed light as to why Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was excluded from the recent Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.
Twin Snakes was released exclusively for Nintendo GameCube back in 2004, and is a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid. The game was developed by Silicon Knights and featured a number of gameplay enhancements and revamped cutscenes.
However, despite the fact it hailed from the same console generation as PlayStation 2 – of which Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 belong to – the game was conspicuously absent from the HD Collection.
Speaking in the latest Kojima Productions podcast, Eyestone explained:
“That [Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes] was a remake made by Silicone Knights. We supervised it but we didn’t create it directly and we wanted to make sure that everything in the HD Collection was canon. Everything that goes into there is something created directly by Kojima Productions and Kojima himself. So that is the reason why Twin Snakes was not included in HD Collection.”
So there you have it folks.

Finally we get an explanation. It's a "meh" one but I guess it makes sense. Collection would still be better off if it included one though. For all the people who've yet to play the series or for those who havent played in like a decade because they didnt own a gamecube.

Makes complete sense and I agree with them, but unfortunately this is the only reason why I haven't bought the HD collection yet. I'm not really into Metal Gear Solid as I haven't played it, and I'm not getting it unless I've played the first one first and can go through the entire series. Personally, I'd rather they remade the original Metal Gear Solid in HD, because there's no way I'm paying £8 on the store for a PS One game I might not even like. Otherwise, I'll either wait for it to drop in price or see if I can get it from a friend. But I'm not playing through the series unless I can start at the very beginning.
