Assassin's Creed 1 is the 'purest,' says creator

Patrice Desilets, one of the original creators behind the multi-million dollar selling Assassin’s Creed franchise, has described the series’ 2007 debut as the “purest” entry to date.

The first Assassin’s Creed proved to be a great commercial success upon its release nearly five years ago, though attracted much criticism for its repetitive mission structure. The sequel, release in 2009, fixed many of the issues that plagued the original.

For Desilets however, Altair’s stab-happy adventure holds great significance, which he elucidates on during a chat with Edge Online:

“I like the first Assassin’s Creed because it’s the purest one. There’s a bunch of stories that you can have, but it’s all in your head. You have to create your own adventures.”

“Whereas in Assassin’s Creed II,” Désilets continued, “we created the adventures for you and you’re following them. For me, the first one is an amazing toy. The second one is the real game with rules and missions and it’s really precise. But personally I like the poetry of the first one. It’s pure.”

The next instalment in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed III, is due out in October 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I can't see the assassin's creed greatness I played the first one and the only thing that attracted my attention was Altairs' animation but nothing more the world was big but no quality at all, after a while the game becomes boring, the story was weak and the combat was not challenging.  Infamous is way too better than AC in my opinion.

The first one was amazing, I thought. Altair was a good character, and the game had a fantastic setting. Personally, I could argue that it was my favourite AC game.
