Speaking during an interview with VideoGamer.com, Criterion’s Matt Webster confirmed that the PlayStation Vita version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted is on par with its console counterparts.
Webster revealed that the handheld version of the adrenaline-fuelled racer is “exactly the same game” as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, including the “same big open-world…same cars…same Autolog features and the same competition.”
“We’re really, really thrilled with what we’ve managed to do on Vita,” he said. “It’s coming along really well.”
The PS Vita version also features cross-platform functionality. For example, any Speed Points earned on the handheld version can be transferred to other versions of the game, and vice-versa.
“The important thing is that any Speed Points that I earn on the Vita or on console or PC or iOS or Android, everything is aggregated into the Most Wanted list, and that’s how you compete to be Most Wanted amongst your friends.”
One area that differs on PS Vita however is the number of online players supported. The console releases pack 12-players, while Sony’s handheld can only handle 4-players.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted is due out in the U.S. on October 30 and in Europe on November 2.

thank you so much criterion...seriously this is probaly the best game so far for the vita.....when i bought the vita i thought that it was going to be epic and a handheld ps3 expirience on the go but instead all i got was spin offs, not even ports.....assasins creed 3 liberation, black ops declassified and i though why cant they just make the same game for the ps vita as they do for the console because that is why i bought it in the first place to play the same games as they ps3 on the go.....but know my hope is restored in the vita ....and i onestly love criterion games.....if this is anywhere near as good as burnout paradise ill be more than willing to pay 50euro for this game

They dont always want to make the same game for the Vita that they make for the PS3 because the thing is people dont always want to buy the exact same game twice. That's why cross-buy is appealing it removes the concept of buying two games entirely amd makes it so you're buying on game to use on more than one platform. You make alternate versions so that people feelt they have a reason to play somethng on the platform and because there are some games people would prefer to play at home versus on the go and sometimes games need to be altered to play differently for an on the go experience There are some portable versions that are simply no where near the quality of it's larger console version which can occasionally hurt the quality of the franchise. I love that the game will be the same on the vita because it proves how hardcore a portable it's capable of being but I'd also like to see a Need for Speed Made just for the vita that ISN'T a port.
