Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes demo detailed

Fresh details on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes have surfaced following its unveiling earlier today at Konami’s special 15th anniversary event.

According to GameSpot, the 20-minute demo for the open-world stealth title kicked off with a chap in a business suit being escorted to a military installation by an armed patrol unit. As rain pummels the base, the man has a chinwag with a young boy trapped in a cage, and tosses him a music player.

The child turns it on and the track ‘Here’s To You’ from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots plays. For those who need their memories refreshed, it’s the track that plays during the credits of Solid Snake’s swansong, as seen here.

On with the demo, and the man removes his hat to reveal burns and scars across his features. He then wipes an emblem off the side of his chopper which displays the letters XOF (or FOX backwards), discards a heap of XOF emblems and then departs.

“From FOX, two phantoms were born” then appears on screen, which refers to either Zero and Big Boss or Liquid and Solid Snake. Big Boss shows up next wearing visors, which he flips up to reveal his eye patch and trademark mullet.

Attendees were then shown some gameplay, which saw Big Boss navigating his surroundings in full-on stealth mode. It was also confirmed that our grizzly hero can call on a chopper for assistance and control a jeep, with shooting ostensibly taking place from a third-person perspective.

Stay tuned for more details on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes as we get them.
