Screenshots of 'Crash Team Racing 2010' surface on YouTube

PlayStation veterans know that Crash Team Racing is the absolute pinnacle of kart racer gameplay and charming design. Ok, I embellish a bit. Still, Naughty Dog's last Crash Bandicoot installment was a PlayStation hit and an excellent swan song for an orange marsupial who has fallen on troubled times in the hands of license owner Activision. However, hope for a worthy follow-up springs eternal.

YouTube user TheCrashProject has posted a minute-long video of screenshots allegedly captured from the beta testing phase of 'Crash Team Racing 2010', which was supposedly in development by High Impact Games until Activision shuttered the project for unknown reasons. The screenshots certainly seem legit, but I notice that none of the tracks on display resemble tracks from the original CTR. High Impact is best-known for developing Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Secret Agent Clank, and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, all of which debuted on PSP.

So, was Crash Team Racing 2010 a PSP sequel that never saw the light of day? We'll update this story when we hear more, but for now, let us know what you think of this news in the comments below.

On a side note, why hasn't Crash been announced for PlayStation All-Stars?!

2010 would presumably be way too early for a Vita game to be in beta, but I understand @1's point about how it could be on PS3. The strangely minimal art design bugs me, though. Why does it look like environments are totally stripped of any detail?

This game should totally be made... The origional was amazing and I still play it on my PS3... And Crash Should TOTALLY be announced for Play Station ALL STARS.  But if not I'd be ok if they just made another CTR GAME. But they should still put him in ALL STARS
