Bayonetta 2 not coming to PS3, 360

Platinum Games’ cult hit Bayonetta remains one of the most celebrated third-party titles of the current generation of consoles. Released in January 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game pits you in the boots of the eponymous, gun-wielding witch as she stylishly blasts her way through heavenly adversaries across a series of lush locations.

Fans have been clamouring for a sequel since launch, and while creator Hideki Kamiya never ruled out the possibility of a follow-up, publisher SEGA remained reluctant to commit to a new game. Nonetheless, fans remained optimistic over the possibility of a sequel.

Today, it was finally confirmed that Bayonetta 2 is in development, though unfortunately for PS3 and 360 owners, the sultry action sequel will be exclusive to Nintendo’s Wii U console, which hits retail shelves in the U.S. and U.K. this November.

Sadly the chances of the game making the transition to Sony and Microsoft’s console looks very slim, since Bayonetta 2 will be published by Nintendo, which is about exclusive as you can get. Think Demon’s Souls or Alan Wake, which were published by Sony and Microsoft, respectively, as PS3 and 360 exclusives.

Are you disappointed in the news that Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive? Or aren’t you fussed? Perhaps you are planning on getting a Wii U? Let us know in the comments section below.

Wow. Do they think this one game will change their entire market demographic? It will be the most suggestive game ever released by Nintendo but beyond that...

This is a bummer for Bayonetta fans that have no desire to buy a Wii U

For one thing, that is such a bold, and stupid move on their part that they must not want that income to pour in from their work. On another note, I never did like Bayonetta in the first place, so it doesn't bother me at all. =P

Would I buy it if it was on PS3? No.

ohhh, shocking big megaton news...NOT. The first title sold like crap or else it would have been a part 2 in dev for all the consoles. You'll have a few diehard fans go and buy it but that's about it. Besides, it'll likely be released on the ps4/720 with a new title. Just ask MS about losing Ninja gaiden 1&2 to the ps3 under a different name...Ok

Really disappointed about this.  I loved the first game.  Played it several times over.  I think it is a really stupid move and hope that it comes out six months or so later for the PS3.  What a let down.

Ultimately I think they'll realize how bad an idea it is when itsells horribly and the supposed exclusivity will end. Unless Nintendo is the publisher in which case they'll just have to live with the poor sales. People dont By nintendo consoles for third party software.

Major bummer. I loved it the first one. If it came out on Xbox or PS3 it wouldnt be a problem but Wii U doesnt deserve such an epic game on their console I am really dissappointed

I loved it on the ps3, and as such i couldn't wait to get the sequel. But now that Bayonetta 2 was done by Nintendo, I now have a passion to find every one of the nintendo staff and throttle them until they agree to make a ps3 and/or xbox 360 version. I am not going to waste my money on a Wii U that is just like a handheld console, with little bits of extra stuff. If Nintendo thinks that people are going to buy a Wii U because of this, well Nintendo, not only have you ruined the Bayonetta series, you have ruined our thoughts of Nintendo and now I believe Nintendo is not making enough profit and is just pissing all of us off to spend money. Well... that was intense...

The fact is that bayonetta was for ps3 and xbox not wii, people may think that its great or what ever but bayonetta fans will be ticked as am i since i fan guyed this so much! The new director stated that they wanted to branch out the game, well clearly u havent! bayonetta fans was in the millions! well obviously the branching out isnt that far, if nintendo really thought about it they would have made more money by making it for ps3, xbox and wii u, well one reason why i really dislike nintendo. In my opinion the director of the new bayoenetta is weak willed, yes they have given us a sequel, but for the wrong platform. Well all we can do is wait and pray that they will come to their sense's and put it on ps3 and xbox but nintendo dont have any rights to the game only its creator and stuff so it may come to ps3 and xbox, it may even come for ps4 or the xbox 720

Man, so many of you guys here are idiots. If it weren't for Nintendo, Bayonetta wouldn't even have a sequel from the start! Sega obviously made a choice not to be the publisher because this game didn't sell that well. Nintendo, just like how they were able to help capcom localize MH 3 ultimate, were willing to help Platinum Games with the sequel be agreeing to be there publisher. Most likely Platinum Games did try to look for publishers from Microsoft or Sony, but couldn't get them to agree to it because of poor sales. Thank Nintendo for helping when Microsoft or Sony doesn't care.
