The Tokyo Game Show will play host to the formal reveal of Sony’s long-rumored Super Slim PlayStation 3.

That’s at least according to the newsletter for Polish retailer Media Expert, which features an image pointing to a new PS3 hardware revision. Furthermore, the date posted on the ad – September 28 – just happens to be a couple of days after Sony’s TGS presser.

Speculation on a new PS3 model has been doing the rounds for a good few months now. Earlier this summer, it was suggested Sony was readying the new hardware for a Gamescom reveal. That didn’t happen, but chatter has been on-going since.

According to reports, the Super Slim PS3 will ship in two models: 120GB (€199) and 500GB (€299).

I know there was a rumor that a 12 GB would come out. If Sony could release that for $99, this holiday season would be amazing for them. It would be impractical, with the game installs, I mean. But so is a 4GB 360.

Needs PS2 backwards compatibility, otherwise, I dont see anyone needing to get this piece of s**t.
