The "slimmer" PS3 model is real, and we've got the first details straight from Tokyo Game Show 2012.

President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House has confirmed that the "slimmer" PS3 model is real, and will come to North America very soon. The 250 GB model will launch as part of a bundle on September 25 in North America at the retail price of $269. Meanwhile, the 500 GB model will retail for $299, and won't see North American release until October 30. The European models (which include a 12 GB flash memory model and the aforementioned 500 GB model) will retail for 220 Euros and 299 Euros, respectively, on October 12 and September 28.

Apparently, the new PS3 will be more than 50% lighter compared to the original model. Charcoal Black and Classic White are two available color options.

Stay tuned to for more from Tokyo Game Show, and let us know what you think of this announcement in the comments below.
