Every day that passes is another day closer to Sony and SuperBot Entertainment’s crossover brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. During Gamescom 2012, Cross-Buy was announced for PlayStation All-Stars, and PlayStation Vita owners were excited to learn that they would receive a free PS Vita copy of the game with a PS3 purchase, and vice versa.
Details on the promotion have been scarce in the weeks since, but Bluepoint Games Sr. Producer Daryl Allison has let loose an interesting nugget. A couple days ago, we reported that Bluepoint was handling development duties on the PS Vita version of the game. In the same blog post describing the studio’s dedication to fighting game excellence, Allison responded to a reader comment about the Cross-Buy promotion. When asked whether Cross-Buy would be supported at retail as well as digitally, Allison responded: "Cross Buy works for retail as well as digitally. Those who purchase the PS3 version at retail or on PSN will receive a digital download for the PS Vita version at no additional cost."
Up until now, there was no confirmation that the PS3 version of PlayStation All-Stars would receive a digital release. Now, it seems that wannabe champions will be able to jump in on PS Vita or PS3 in whatever format they choose and get tossed by the staff here at PSU.
