FIFA 13 contributed to recent break-ups, says survey

A recent survey by VoucherCodesPro has revealed that FIFA 13 has been attributed to playing a part in 1 in 10 recent break-ups.

The survey questioned 1,124 newly-single individuals, 12 per cent of who “specifically mentioned” EA Sports’ acclaimed footie outing as a contribution factor to the decline of their relationship.

Furthermore, of the 12 per cent who called out FIFA 13, nearly half claimed that their relationship woes was due to the gamer spending more time on the virtual pitch than with their partner. 31 per cent meanwhile said FIFA 13 had caused a ‘change in mood’ within the relationship.

It wasn’t just down to blokes, either. 13 per cent of FIFA 13 fanatics were female gamers.’s George Charles commented: “We had '50 Shades of Grey' causing problems in relationships during the summer, however, now it seems like 'FIFA Shades of Grey' as another obsession takes over!"

"People see video games as a break from reality, but it seems that the virtual world can have implications in the real world too.”

"Video games can get addictive, but it's important to keep a hold on reality and not let it detract from daily life. Games are meant to be a source of fun not strife. Players need to put them into perspective and take a step back if it gets too much. If a game's going badly, why not just turn off and start again?!"

We have a feeling FIFA 13 won’t be the only game to cause friction in  relationships this year. Call of Duty: Black Ops II, anyone?
