Sony has churned out a fresh Firmware update for PlayStation 3, bringing the system up to version 4.31.
Those of you who don’t fancy sitting through yet another update needn’t fear though – this one is strictly optional.
Sony revealed that this latest quick fix will remedy issues pertaining to Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD among others.
“This is not a mandatory update,” said the console maker. “However, we suggest you keep your systems updated with the latest firmware, as these updates further improve overall system stability and help provide you with the best online entertainment experience possible.”
The last major Firmware update, v4.30, was released last week and introduced the ability to view PlayStation Vita-earned Trophies on your PS3.
Stay tuned to PSU.com for more updates.

You want Sony to leave your system alone them disconnect it from the internet, simple as that. The whole point of systems these days are to be internet connected for this very purpose updating, fixing things improving features. It's your system but their software running it if you dont want to use their software then you forfeit the services that pertain to that software. Period.
