God of War team 'still has more story to tell'

Developers Sony Santa Monica has touched base on why the studio is still happy to pump out more God of War games.
According to studio director Shannon Studstill, the company still has plenty more story to tell within the GoW universe, though admitted there were ‘business reasons’ behind its continued support of the series too.
"I think for the single-player game, there were systems that we wanted to enhance. Not to diss God of War 3, as that was tough to go from PS2 to PS3, but our focus for God of War 3 was very tools and engine-focused. And now what we're trying to do is catch up a bit in terms of systems we wanted to improve upon,” said Studstill.
In addition, there is also the addition of multiplayer in the latest entry, God of War: Ascension, which she describes as a “completely different game.”
Elsewhere, Studstill remained coy over the subject of the PlayStation 3’s successor, codenamed Orbis.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said. “The PS3 is a very powerful machine, and we definitely feel like we’re taxing it, but it continuously surprises us.”
God of War: Ascension is due out exclusively on PS3 in March 2013.

Halo and cod has been way more milked than gow. They have been releasing a new game every year. Its gonna be 3 years since we have had a new gow game. Even though i was a little dissapointed when they announced this cause i want gow 4 but i think they are saving it for the ps4. They might be milking the whole greek mythlogoy a little but they are far from milking the franchise.

You're correct, and Halo is about the same
2 on Xbox in 4 years
3 on 360 in over 7 years plus 1 RTS and a short project (ODST). The HD remake isn't a different game either.
Not a lot og games for a franchise that has been around since 2001, GOW has only been out since 2005.

@8 Those are REMAKES not new games. Thats totally different man. U still havent proved anything to what u are saying. Its been 3 years since we have had a new gow game. They did those remakes cause not everybody had a ps2/psp so they wanted to give people the chance to play it on the ps3. Halo made those terrible side games just for show. ODST was just supposed to be DLC content then they decided to make a full price retail game. I have gotten the most recent cod and halo which i am enjoying both but i like halo 4 better. Apparently u dont know what milking means.

Combat Evolved was a remake so ppl who didn't have an original Xbox could play it on 360.
I waited after 2001 until 2004 for the 2nd Halo, then 2007 for the 3rd.
I was delighted to see a small project like OSDT fill the gapin 2009 before the 2010 release of Reach. The 2009 RTS is a spin-offf and not the same genere.
Haven't played as Master Chief ince 2007.

lol now ur bringing "characters" into this. U still dont know what ur talking about. Even though ODST and wars didnt have master chief it was still a new halo game. Same with Reach. Thats 3 new halo games released in less than 2 yrs. U dont even have the timeline release date correct.

ODST and War came out in 2009, that was over 3 years ago.
Wars, an RTS, was not made by Bungie. Personally, I dont consider it any more a Halo game than the turn based card game "Uncharted Fight for Fortune" to be an Uncharted game.
If your counting completey different game types from different studios (RTS) then yes 2009 to 2010 saw 3 Halo games. Great for fans of RTS and ODST filled the void from 2007's Halo 3 till 2010's Reach.
I enjoyed ODST and was glad to see RTS fans get a new game

I'm personally getting fed up with God of War, although I greatly enjoyed God of War III on my second playthrough, I'm hoping Ascension will be the last one. There's not much more they can do and I don't want the series to become too milked, I'd rather they moved onto new things.
Although it could be worse. It could be as milked as Halo.
