Naughty Dog: The Last of Us multiplayer not 'tacked on'

Developer Naughty Dog has moved to quell fears that the multiplayer component for The Last of Us will be a tacked on affair.
Fans were a little concerned after news broke yesterday that the post-apocalyptic adventure would ship with multiplayer, as confirmed via a pre-order listing for the title.
However, writing on the U.S. PlayStation Blog, community strategist Arne Meyer insisted the multiplayer won’t come at a detriment to the quality of the single-player campaign, which is looking mighty tasty it has to be said.
“We don’t approach MP in any of our games as tacked on. And we also always have separate teams working on the different components so that we can maintain full focus on making SP and MP up to our standards," said Meyer.
“We have faith that our MP will stand on it’s own. If we felt like it would be tacked on, we wouldn’t have added it. We want all our game experiences to be of the highest quality and that’s what we work extremely hard to deliver.”
“MP has never taken away resources from the SP game in any of our games, always separate teams, separate resources. The folks working on the single player campaign always have the resources and support to complete that portion of the game to the vision they planned for.”
He added: “The SP portion of the game hasn’t been skimped out on in any way.”
No details on the multiplayer for The Last of Us have been revealed as of yet, though we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
The Last of Us is scheduled to ship exclusively for PlayStation 3 on May 7, 2013.

The Last of Us multiplayer would be most-likely acceptable much like Uncharted multiplayer (possibly). Although it wouldn't ever come close to comparison with Black Ops 2 or RDR multiplayer, it might happen, but probably not.
Sincerely, GC Thank you! Happy Hollidays@galactic_cowboy 3 "It's the most wonderful tiem of the year"!

I doubted Naughty Dog when they announced multiplayer for Uncharted 2, yet it exceeded my expectations, and went on to be one of my most played multiplayer games (and I'm not really an online gamer!) If the multiplayer for The Last of Us is anywhere near as good as that, it will be brilliant, I personally won't be doubting them ever again.
@6 - Never come close? Uncharted 2's multiplayer is leaps and bounds above that of Red Dead Redemption!
