Are we ready for PS4 when we have these game releases on PS3 in 2013?

(continued from previous page) ...a stunning software line-up.

What I think this software line-up shows is that there's still plenty of life in the PS3 yet. After the initially teething trouble, developers have finally got used to the hardware and in the last few years have created some incredible games that take advantage of its power. Are we actually ready for the PS4? Isn't the PS3 just hitting its stride?

Note: The PS4 has not been announced to launch in 2013.

Ummm... no? If you really think about it, you'll realize the ps3 is already tapped out. It might have a better cpu, but the gpu isn't as good as the xbox 360's. (Don't try to say I'm biased, i base it off actual specs. besides, im a pc gamer, my graphics are way better than you console gamers) They also both have 512mb ram.... You can't do any more with that. Consoles are still directx9 based, whereas pcs already have directx 11.1, and console games run at medium/low settings at subpar resolutions, very rarely is a console game true hd. The ps3 hit its stride in my opinion with games like uncharted 2. Sure great new games are coming out, and that's the only thing that gets me to occasionally play my ancient ps3 with the horrible 07 gimped nvidia gpu, but wouldn't you like to have all of these new ips on a console capable of producing graphics 3 or 4 times as good as current gen?

Excellent point Jetman. PS4 games are going to look incredible!

Yes they will, imo console games today look like garbage. I've been spoiled with 8k textures 8xmsaa, txaa (tsw, ac3, black ops 2), tessellation (too lazy to list them all), etc. So console games to me look pretty bad. But, the ps4 and 720 will never match a pc.

Bring on next gen! I still enjoy my PS3, but I like new hardware.

@3- Consoles were never to match a PC in the first place. One of the reasons consoles sell so well, is that consumers don't have to spend a ton of money to upgrade just to run a game program, its kept simple. If graphics is all that matter to you, then yeah, stay on the computer.

PC gaming looks better, but is way more expensive and doesn't have access to the games I love to play.

Pc gamning isn't as expensive as you think, nor is the myth that console are highly optimized true either. You could build a system capable of running medium/high graphics at 1080p right now for about $550. Consoles run at a resolution lower than 720p most of the time and have hardware equivalent to the 7800 gtx from gpu from nvidia. I do care about graphics, that's why I'm ready for next gen, that way hopefully i can enjoy exclusives without having to look at 2k textures and sub-hd blurry resolutions, upscaled so much that it blurs the textures even worse.

Ive gont from gaming from consoles to pretty much only PC on the last year.

While the increased graphic quality is very nice on the PC and does improve the game, the best part to me is the performance. Now i can enjoy games at 60 fps with no screen tear, lag, frame drops and hardly any pop in ( except the bad ports i mean)

It improves a game so much. That is what  i want next gen, its probably more from a devs standpoint as they are the ones who can make it happen, for game to run very smoothly and most problems like screen tear and pop in to be near non excistant. As long as graphics are on average the same quality as...uncharted/crysis  or something i will be fine.

well it definitely is time for a new console. 6 years have passed, it's almost 7 years now. Next year or it's going to be really a problem, and it's going to be way too outdated.

No, we are not. Let's stay with PS3 for 100 more years since we can keep getting such great games every year!

Don't expect 60fps on next-gen consoles, unless you want minimal graphical improvements.

The Last Guardian...LOL I never expect that game to see the light of day along with FF VS 13.

the PC and a PS3 is way diffrent by far because one the ram you have in you PC if for ur OPsystem because Windows 7 needs 4gb of ram to run. the game consols  has a much simpler Opsystem the CPU is much diffrent than the PC verson. game consols don't need Direct 9 because the way they use it is difrrent. plust on a came consol you get to play game that are just made for that system. The GPU is much diffrent that the PC.
