Ah, role-playing games, what a great way to completely ruin your social life. Each year, there’s always one game that we spend most of our time playing religiously and with such huge game worlds and a mass variety of things to do it’s no wonder we get totally immersed in them. With the likes Kingdoms of Amalur, Dragon’s Dogma, Mass Effect 3 and Borderlands 2 competing for our time and votes, the RPG category is fiercely competitive this year. We’re absolutely delighted with the winner this year as it’s not a game that we even had on our radar, yet it’s pipped to the post some great titles. Yes, you may surprised because Mass Effect 3 came second and Borderlands 2 and Dragon’s Dogma tied for third place. Bow down then to this year’s winner folks because it fully deserves your attention.
And the winner is…
Persona 4 Golden
Persona 4 Golden has it all. The Japanese RPG masterpiece boasts a brilliant story-line, memorable characters, intense combat and vast replay value. Atlus has taken a four year-old game and created a thing of beauty on PS Vita that takes players on a thrilling and powerful journey that combines emotive story-telling with addictive gameplay. Person 4 Golden isn’t just the best RPG this year, but one of the finest games of this console generation.
Here’s a snippet from our Persona 4 Golden review:
“As a port, Golden positively gleams with polish, but as an RPG, it soars. Extraordinary characters, a gripping narrative, addictive gameplay, and haunting charm that lingers long after your battery runs dry... these are hallmarks of a masterpiece, and while no video game is perfect, Persona 4 Golden comes closer than any game on the PS Vita before it.”----
