5. Liquid Snake/Ocelot
Our first villain in our list is Solid Snake's twin brother, Liquid Snake, the former squad commander of the high tech Fox Hound Unit and one of three sons of Big Boss' Les Enfant Terribles Project.
Considered to be inferior to Solid Snake due to expressing Big Boss' recessive genetic traits, he held a strong resentment toward the boss with a desire to defeat him in combat to prove his superiority.
Liquid Snake is behind some of the series' most infamous events, such as The Shadow Moses Incident, The Manhattan Incident and The War Against the Patriots. He is a force to be reckoned with.
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
The fourth entry in the list is the God of Olympus and Kratos's Father, Zeus, the main antagonist for the God of War series. A son of the Titan Cronos, it was foretold that one of the children would one day rise against him and become King of the Gods. Distressed by this news, Cronos started to eat his children one by one. Zeus, the only one to escape, vowed to return and save his fellow siblings; however, he betrayed all of the titans by waging war on them due to the sins of one.
As time passed, his forgotten son Kratos became the new God of War after slaying Ares and taking his seat upon Olympus. However, when Kratos opened Pandora's Box, evils were released that infected the Gods. Consumed by his personal worries of Kratos repeating what Zeus had done to Cronos, he betrayed Kratos and planned to kill him.
A great war took place between the Gods, lead by Zeus, and the Titans, lead by Kratos. In his quest for revenge, Kratos killed each god that would protect Zeus, including Poseidon, Hades, Helios, Hermes and his brother Hercules.
In the final battle, Zeus would prove too much for Kratos and if not for the strength of heart from Pandora and his fallen family, Kratos might have never defeated Zeus.

3. Albert Wesker
Our third pick goes to the former Umbrella Corporation chief Albert Wesker and the main antagonist of the Resident Evil Series. We first meet him as the leader of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, which includes series staples Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. Betraying them both, he reveals himself as a double agent and informs them he invited the S.T.A.R.S into the mansion in order to gather combat data on the B.O.W.s roaming the estate.
With his supposed death, Raccoon City is overrun with the T-Virus created by his former employer, the Umbrella Corporation. Eventually returning during the events of Resident Evil 5, he mutated using the Uroborus Virus and transformed into a humanoid bio-weapon before being dispatched by Redfield and partner Sheva Alomar.
Appearing in a number of games, he has also manipulated story events from behind the scenes and remains a constant threat whether dead or alive.

The only villain on the list to appear from this generation's consoles, Vaas is one of the most jaw dropping villains to appear in any game and the only on this list to appear on their respective game's box art.
A sadistic pirate working in the world's largest slave and drug ring in the South Pacific, Vaas is a twisted soul. Addicted to drugs, he left the Rakyat tribe in order to pursue his addiction and turned into a maniac capable of murder and torture.
The stand out villain of the game, Vaas captivates players, making him likable but he also scares the crap out of you at the same time.
Do you know the Definition of Insanity?
Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 The Mockumentary Experience
Our number one pick goes to a villain more complex and twisted than any other: Final Fantasy VII's One Winged Angel, Sephiroth.
This villain started out as a hero who was once the most talked about soldier in all of Shinra; however, he fell from grace when he learned of the twisted experiments that created him.
The son of Jenova, a calamity that fell from the sky long ago, he self-proclaimed himself as a god and would destroy anyone that got in his way.
Sephiroth set about searching for the Black Materia, the key to summoning Meteor and destroying all of Gaia. It got pretty close and ended up completely obliterating Midgar City. Sephiroth himself was defeated by Cloud Strife and his team in the depths of the Northern Crater.
With Sephiroth dead, the world started to rebuild itself. But he would return with the help of Jenova's Remnants pawns in a bid to finish his work. Cloud would defeat him a second time but barely with his life in the balance.
Sephiroth was responsible for some of gaming's most memorable evil scenes, such as Aeris' death, the Burning of Nibelheim, Clouds coma, impalling Midgar Zolom on a tree, murdering President Shinra and many more.
Sephiroth is a villain that is capable of psychological torture, as well as being a highly skilled combatant wielding a Masamane sword and possessing strong materia. This makes him PlayStation's number one villain.
