PS Vita won't get RE: Revelations, Capcom explains why

Resident Evil: Revelations is coming to consoles and PC later this year, though conspicuous by its absence in Capcom’s press blurb was mention of a PlayStation Vita version.

Fans were understandably up in arms over the decision to seemingly forgo a PS Vita release, prompting many to take to the U.S. PlayStation Blog and voice their frustrations.

In response, Capcom’s Mike Lunn wrote:

“…. when we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.”

He added: “3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts. Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions.”

RE: Revelations was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS in January 2012. Interestingly, it is widely believed among fans that the game started out life as the mysterious PlayStation Portable title announced by Sony at E3 2009, which obviously failed to materialise.

Revelations will be released for PlayStation 3, PC Xbox 360 and Wii U in May 2013.

    Buying the Vita has to be one of the worst purchases I have made as it has the poorest support.

    Its another useless game by Capcom and nothing new about this Resident Evill series crab.

    @4, the PS VITA is an amazing system its most have system and I guarantee you. You won't buy any new games until your mom will give 10 dollars or waiting for chritsmas gift. PS VITA it has lots of good games maybe you need to put on glasses to see.

    I really dislike crapcoms answer, as the Vita has a bigger screen, more power (better speakers at least with Sonys 7.1 surround sound headphones). Also depending on your screen size at home (Mines a 37") from the distance I hold my Vita away and from how far I sit away from my HD TV, they're actually roughly the same viewable size

    Was also no point in saying the 3DS and Vita are completely different due to resolutions, screens size etc... So what? the 3DS and Vita are a lot more simliar then when compared to PC 360 and PS3

    So, who here cares about the XBOX 360 and PC versions? Why does PSU keep covering consoles from other companies, when their name says they only cover SONY systems? Are they paid off?

    @2 This RE game is supposedly pretty good... Time will tell how it fares as a console game, though.

    @6 The word is "when"...

    Too bad, this would of been good for the vita, personally the Vita is a buy I don't regrette, the only console I regretted buy was the Wii, that was a waste of good money!
