Fresh details on upcoming PlayStation Vita hack ‘n slash Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus have emerged today courtesy of Team Ninja.
An updated version of PlayStation 3 title Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, this handheld edition features all-new content such as the Ninja Race, tag missions, fresh weapons and pre-order DLC goodies.
Ninja Race is a time-based affair where players embark on a killing spree through dynamic courses. After picking a character, level and costume, you can opt to either sprint through each stage or eliminate as many foes as possible to earn points. Along the way you’ll obtain special essences to facilitate your efforts; Green (extra time), White (Combo Kill boost) and Purple (Ninja Speed).
Tag Missions meanwhile allows gamers to switch between two characters instantaneously, allowing players to combine the strengths of each team member to help overcome challenges. Your partner is controlled by the AI, and tagging must be used strategically to overcome certain adversaries based on your character’s strengths and weaknesses.
Plus also offers some additional weaponry for protagonist Ryu. First up is “Emma’s Fang,” a large sword that is capable of decimating enemies thanks to its powerful, albeit slow blows. “Falcon’s Talons” meanwhile slices up foes with special attacks such as the Izuna Drop and the Thunderous Attack. Lastly, the “Tonfas” can unleash devastating combos such as Heavenly Justice to pulverize foes.
Finally, pre-ordering the game will net you DLC which includes unique, limited edition costumes for Ayane, Rachel and Momiji.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus is due out on March 1, 2013.
