Junction Point Studios, the developer behind Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, has closed its doors.

Disney confirmed the closure of the Warren Spector-fronted studio following a slew of rumors earlier this week.

Unsurprisingly, the move comes following the disappointing performance of Epic Mickey 2, which failed to set tills alight and received poor reviews following its launch last November.

The game only sold 270,000 units during its first month on sale in the U.S., significantly below that of the original game’s 1.3 million – and Epic Mickey 1 was a Wii-exclusive, too.

Said Disney in a statement: "It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We're extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.”

As for Spector, a spokesperson revealed that “he will not be staying with Disney.”

Not surprising, we live in a world where an FPS which comes out every year looking the same as the one before, making a billion dollars sells in less than 2 weeks, how could you think this so called game which only appeals to kids stand against a COD? Get real!!!! Games like this should stay on Wii.

Regardless, it still sucks that another developing studio got the axe. I hope the employees can find some work elsewhere.
